Health literacy must evolve to meet the challenges of the artificial intelligence (AI) era. Traditional models that focus on understanding written or online information no longer capture the complexities of algorithm-mediated health communication. This paper introduces the concept of Algorithmic Community Health Literacy (ACHL)—defined as the collective capacity of populations to interpret, evaluate, and act upon AI-generated health information. ACHL extends beyond eHealth literacy by emphasizing probabilistic reasoning, ethical awareness, and community-level engagement with algorithmic systems such as chatbots, predictive analytics, and digital surveillance tools. Integrating ACHL into schools, community programs, and primary care settings can empower citizens to navigate algorithmic environments critically and equitably, reducing digital exclusion and enhancing public resilience. By bridging health literacy and algorithmic literacy, ACHL provides a framework for reimagining public health in the age of machine intelligence.
